Note that kfgpe's friends are 89% normal and my friends (which include kfgpe and white_egret, his lovely wife) are 59% normal.

Hmm, that might be because:

A) the meme uses a fraction to calculate how many friends have common interests, and the denominator of his fraction is larger, because he has more friends on LJ

B) The numerator of my fraction is smaller, since I have a diverse group of friends who do not necessarily share the same interests. (Let's see, off the top of my head, my friends are interested in: triathlon, SCA, vintage dance, kayaking, physical therapy, hockey, fiber arts, sculpture, computers, ham radio. Um... yeah. I think I vote for this possibility.)

C) Or I have extremely odd friends. ;-)

WADs, FOOSHes, and the macabre world of orthopedics

I'm running into all kinds of interesting and descriptive terms and acronyms in orthopedics. Here's a sample:

WAD: Whiplash Associated Disorder. (Whiplash can cause headaches, sleeplessness, depression, and all sorts of other symptoms. Wow.)

FOOSH: Fall On Outstretched Hand

MVA: Motor Vehicle Accident, usually causes "Deceleration trauma"-- it's not the launch that gets you, it's the abrupt stop when you hit the windshield/ground/tree/other car.
