Minor triumph
Dec. 16th, 2003 02:44 pmFrom the Minor Triumph Department:
We have been existing without a kitchen sink since Thursday or Friday, when the garbage disposal went out, necessitating removal of the sink and faucet also.
No sink. Since running the dishwasher caused water to spurt out of what was left of the faucet, we also had no dishwasher. You can imagine how much I liked that.
Maggie and Maura replaced the sink, garbage disposal, and faucet (I was very impressed) but ran into trouble at the final tightening stage (It still leaked). The plumber finally came, tightened some things, pronounced it fixed, and went down to his truck to get his tools.
I casually added dish soap to the half-empty dishwasher and turned it on.
The plumber came back, insisted on diagramming for me the tiny valve he'd actually fixed, and was about to leave when water came rushing out of the plumbing under the sink. Aha-- the dishwasher connection was not bolted right. And, providentially, the plumber had not left yet.
I'd like to say I did that on purpose, but really, I just wanted the dishes cleaned. Lucky it worked out that way, though!
