Postcards from the Edge III: It's All Too Much

Sometimes it can be hard to wake up:

"Up!"
"Lauren, you ARE up."
"Down!"
"Do you really want to be down?"
"No!"

hmm.....

"Cookies!"
"Lauren, cookies are good, aren't they, but they're not for breakfast."
"Ce al!" (Rice cereal.) K makes some and gives it to her, whereupon she turns up her nose.
"Cookies!"

(Well, I can see her point. Cookies were fine breakfast food yesterday, so why not today? Adults are so arbitrary and unreasonable about things like that.)
