I sold a bike frame and gave away my beater mountain bike. I'm down to four bikes. In process, I got hired at the bike shop, as I will now relate:

I brought my old Trek and new GT bike frame (bought cheaply from a teammate who upgraded) to the bike shop, and asked them to put the old parts on the new-to-me frame. (The old frame is cracked. Yes, that's right, I rode it into the ground. I can't say I'm sorry about that. ;-)

Bike shop owner: We'll call you if it's more than 10% more expensive than we said.
Me: Oh yeah, expectation management.

I got a speculative look.

Bike shop owner: I never thought of it that way. What do you do?
Me: I'm a PT student at Elon, but I used to work in software QA and technical writing. And I know that the smart technical writers go to the support people to ask them where customers experience problems, and tailor their writing that way.

And that was that: before I knew it, I was hired at the bike shop, commencing when I return from my clinical. One day a week. No, it doesn't pay a lot. Yes, I really want to, because I want to learn about bike fit and wrenching bikes. ;-)

So, one day a week you'll go from being a bike wench to learning about wrenching bikes? :-)

Sorry, I couldn't resist.
