The return of the Faire
Aug. 17th, 2004 10:29 amThe renaissance faire, in Marin and run by the Patersons no less, has returned.
I'll shorten a long story: There were bad times involving a for-profit corporation that bought the faire (REC) and made some very bad decisions about running it. The REC-owned faire has closed, and the original people who started the original faire have started another one.
I went to see it on Sunday.... and it was well done. They went for six weekends; the faire looked young (small trees, some blank spaces; few actors; the layer of history and custom that marked the old faire was conspicuously missing) but you could see where it was going. I saw many familiar faces.
