So, I got an email on www.okcupid.com (an online dating site). I have met very nice people from there. This, however, was not one of them.
The email read, in its entirety: "Hi, Wanna watch me masterbate?"
Sigh. And they say modern men have no manners.
I flagged it for OKCupid staff to look at, deleted the email, and blocked him, so naturally now I can't find the profile or I'd show it to you: A mathematics graduate student from a university in Colorado, age 30, wants to teach math after he graduates. His profile picture shows his back to the camera, in the unmistakeable feet-apart and arms-bent posture of a guy taking a leak.
Only after I deleted the email did it dawn on me that here, at last, was a man positively volunteering to be flamed.... mercilessly. (I try to be nice. I get so few bona-fide, societally sanctioned chances to be cruel and merciless. I should take advantage of them.) So... after the fact, but thoroughly enjoyable anyway, we have.... choice A and choice B.
Choice A: Email back, and say "Sure, after I watch someone disembowel you with a size 4 knitting needle."
Choice B: Email back and say that I've found his graduate department email and website, know the number and email of the department chair, and am forwarding his email and profile to all the professors and the chair.... and to whatever agency in Colorado certifies people to teach children.
Speak up, let's hear it... what would you do?
