Here comes the wheelchair
Jan. 15th, 2004 06:49 amHeard the old joke with the punchline "It's your turn in the barrel"??
Well, today is my turn in the wheelchair. I'm supposed to spend 48 hours in the wheelchair, to see what people with disabilities go through. I am not allowed to suddenly rise from the land of the seated and go mountain biking, either. The instructor was very definite about that. ;-)
Okay, I will make sure she does not catch me doing that.
I will also make a point of using the YMCA pool to do my swimming in (which requires a trek outside the Y to get to the pool level, since there is no elevator, and then requires me to use the lift to get into the pool. I would do an all-pulling workout for veracity's sake, but discretion is the better part of valor here; I am already likely to have very sore arms and shoulders from pushing myself around all day, and I've already separated a shoulder twice-- requiring extensive physical therapy to get well again. An all-pulling workout, while valorous, is not my best choice.
