ninevirtuesSo, it's happened. I swore that, when this week was over, L the toddler would be talking like a junior psychoanalyst, or I'd have gone mad living with a toddler, and I was not sure which of these outcomes was more likely.
Well, both have happened.
Exhibit A: L was speaking in two-word sentences when I arrived, and is now up to three word sentences, like "I did it!" Many of the things she says sound distinctly like things I say to her.... like "Up you get!" or "down you go!" and my personal favorites, "Oh, I see!" and "I get it!"
Exhibit B, in which I conclusively prove that I've lost it: The cadence and word choice I use when speaking have come to resemble something from a child's storybook... possibly because I've read approximately fifteen of them per day, every day that I've been here. For example, rooting around in the freezer, trying to find the vegetables to microwave and feed to L now prompts me to exclaim... "I look in the freezer, and what do I see? I see FROZEN VEGETABLES looking at me!
