Things I learned yesterday....

1) The Wilcox High School track is a 10-minute easy jog from my house.
2) At 6:30 in the morning, no students are using it, only random people from the community. Hello, power-walking grandma!
3) Random people from the community don't necessarily know the Golden Rule of the track (The fastest person on the track gets Lane 1, slower runners take lanes 2-4, joggers and walkers should use lanes 5-8).
4) Even though the rules, including that one, are clearly posted by the track.
5) I can, in fact, do 8x800 yards at half marathon pace (subthreshold), with 90 seconds easy between, and not die. (Surprise!)
6) When the subthreshold fun starts, Grandma suddenly remembers the Golden Rule and migrates to the outside lanes. Thanks, Grandma, you're a doll.
7) Wilcox High School students don't start arriving until 7:10 or 7:15.
8) PE classes don't start until sometime after 7:30.
