Estherville, IA
Jul. 25th, 2005 04:58 pmI rode 85 miles today. Mmm. Headwinds. Good. Hard work.
Last night was Sheldon, IA (apparently a fairly religious town). For entertainment, we had the Tubinator (a tuba-playing guy), a local direly bad rock band, and-- the piece de resistance-- a local church playing the Passion of Christ at 7 PM, 8 PM, and 9 PM.
Oh yeah, and you could buy a square for the annual cow patty bingo contest (held on Labor Day-- need not be present to win.)
Is it just me, or did ironic, postmodern sensibilities skip northern Iowa? Did someone forget to put irony in the water here, like it is in the silicon valley?
